Investor Immigration program Visa and Permanent Residency

Once an Immigrant Investor receives a Permanent Residency Visa under the Investor Immigration program, he/she is eligible to live, invest, work, prosper and study anywhere in Canada with no limitations at all. The immigrant will enjoy right away all the rights given to Canadian citizens such as free universal Health Care, free education for the children and almost free university studies (Canadian universities have a very good reputation), with the exception of holding a Canadian passport and the right to vote. Update on  Investor Immigration to Canada - Changes of 2010 and 2011

In  June 2010 , the Canadian Immigrant Investor program was halted . In  October 2010  , the  Quebec Immigrant Investor  program was also halted . Both programs are now available to Immigrant Investors wanting to apply as of December 1st 2010

Under the previous programs , the required Net Worth was 800,000$ Canadian and the Investment was of 400,000$ Canadian .

As these conditions were too favorable compared to other countries Investor Immigration programs, the Federal government has decided to increase the required Net Worth and the mandatory Investment in return of fast processing which is expected under this type of VIP Immigration .

The average waiting time under the previous Investor Immigration program at the federal level was of  around 3 years. We are now expecting a waiting time under the New Immigrant Investor program of 14 to 18 months .

The Canadian and Quebec Immigrant Investor Programs are still the most favorable despsite the current changes in requirements and there is no business involvement or financial risk taken by the Immigrant Investor unlike with other countries Investor Immigration programs.

In  March  2011 , the Canadian Minister of Immigration has decided to replace the CSIC ( Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants) with a new regulatory Agency - Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council -  ICCRC - that will supervise the work of Certified Immigration Consultants and will work towards eliminating non certified immigration consultants outside of Canada that provide paid services to immigrants . It is always as risk to hire a non Canadian based Immigration Consultant or lawyer.  

As of  July 1st 2011, ICCRC became the only regulator for all Canadian Immigration Consultants  

As of July 1st 2011 , the Canadian Immigrant Investor program was halted and will not accept new files for at least 1 year , but probably many more years. All Immigrant Investors will now have to apply through the Quebec Investor Program using a specialized Investor firm located in Quebec and that holds full accreditation like VIP Business Immigration . Failure to use an accredited Immigration firm in Quebec will mean that the file will be rejected immediatelly.
